Hidden Mystery(beta) (Game Designer/Game Artist) - 2012 at TriUnion Tech
Game Description | Hidden Mystery
Hidden Mystery is a crime-solving detective game set in the classical age of New Orleans. Immerse yourself in a world where you can search for hidden clues, solve puzzles, explore new areas, gift friends, and much more. The beta version of this game was released on Facebook in the mid-2012.
How it All Started
Back in 2012, we were creating small flash games for "Topgamestoday.com" and Facebook. It was a time when Facebook users were primarily attracted to hidden object and puzzle gameplay. Inspired by this, we aimed to develop a social game that encourages player interaction through resource gifting and other special items. Thus, we created Hidden Mystery (beta), a social game featuring a detective story and casual gameplay where players manage resources like coins, energy, and reputation.
Game Features
Hidden Mystery offered a compelling storyline with interesting characters and various scenarios. The game included:
Hidden Mystery was my first long-term project after working on smaller games. Our team consisted of four members. I handled the game concept, story, level design, gameplay design, game economy, monetization, testing, and art. Another team member focused on game art, while two programmers were responsible for gameplay programming and system programming.
Although this game wasn't highly successful, it garnered over 2000 monthly users at launch. Unfortunately, due to the lack of a proper marketing team and updates after the beta release, users stopped visiting, leading to Facebook removing the game at the end of 2013.
Through this experience, I gained insights into game monetization and virtual economies in games, which were new concepts for me at the time.
